The first part of our day was very interesting (hen you yisi). The middle school group visited 3 different classes and did group interviews for the entire class. The Chinese students were truly amazed and very happy to see us. We first gave a self-introduction then let in the Chinese students ask their own questions. We ended by singing the "star spangled banner" and Justin Bieber's "Baby" in front of a class of about 25 students. After the 3 interviews, the group went to the cafeteria to eat a well deserved meal.
After lunch we went up our usual resting room in the library, where we talked, played cards, as well as practiced for our presentation on Pingry life for the next day. After we had finished doing so, we went to visit two factories run by a Quzhou No. 2 High School alum. The first place we went was called “Hongwuhuan Group”. It feels more like a business place, with many offices, and a big conference room. The head of the company, also the alum, showed us the company video made 2 years before. Although it was entirely in Chinese, we were able to understand some of it, and get the main message of the video. Then we went to the actual factory, which produced many interesting machines. The factory was very big and had a lot of people working to make a lot of different things. Then after we had finished the tour of the first factory, we went to the second, which produced paper. We were able to see many different areas of the factory and types of manufacturing, including an area dedicated to roll the paper into very large and tight rolls. It was very interesting to see the copious amounts of paper that was being made, and to see paper in such large quantaties was pretty impressive. After we left the paper factory we went back to the school, where we met with our host families. Then we all went home. Overall, it was a pretty eventful and interesting day.
